FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 2, 2006 Zzyzx Motorsports customers trophy at 2006 SCCA Solo National Championships The 2006 SCCA Solo National Championships at Heartland Park, Topeka, stands as a showcase of the performance potential of Zzyzx Motorsports competition coilovers when in the hands of highly skilled drivers. We'd like to congratulate the competitors that, through their driving skill, managed to bring home tophies in no less than four classes: Street Touring S (STS), Street Touring X (STX), Street Trouring U (STU) and D Street Prepared (DSP). As usual STS saw excellent participation numbers with 45 drivers. Jon Simmons (Omaha, NE), piloting the 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS #122 owned by Doug Rand (Omaha, NE), ended day one in 12th place, the last trophy spot and managed to retain his position when the dust settled on Friday. STX, another well attended Street Touring class, had 38 competitors. Billy Brooks (Park City, UT), behind the wheel of Jason Wong's (Troy, MI) 2003 Subaru WRX #154, ended up grabbing 5th place in this hotly contested class, which was only 0.562 seconds behind the leader. It should also be noted that Billy Brooks again captured the 2006 ProSolo National Championship title. In it's second year as a provisional class, STU attracted no less than 48 drivers, solidifying it's National class status for 2007 onward. After some minor setup changes, Jerry Irvine (Lenexa, KS), piloting Jake Diehl's (Lees Summit, MO) 2006 Mitsubishi Evo IX MR #142, jumped from 13th to 4th on the second day of competition during his last run. With a 51.247 on the West course, Jerry had fastest time of day for the class. In the spec-BMW class known as DSP, Patrick Lipsinic (Tulsa, OK) in his 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS, single handidly crushed the monopoly that the 3-series BMWs had in the trophy positions by grabbing 7th in a field of 27 drivers. He was the one and only driver that wasn't driving a 3-series to grab a trophy spot, not to mention the fastest Subaru in the field. We're sure he and others look forward to the day when these 3-series are allowed to compete in another class. Results for other competitors: STS STX STU DSP XP * First time competitors Solo Nationals Also of note are the efforts of two brothers, Gilbert and Noel De Los Reyes in DSP. Having broke their rear JIC-Magic coilovers into two on the right rear on their 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS, they bolted on the rear coilovers from the Zzyzx Motorsports XP Impreza 2.5 RS. Gilbert went on to pull the third fastest raw time on the West course on Friday. Having managed only one run on the first day, Noel managed to bounce back from 25th to 15th on day two. And last but not least, we would like to mention one of our sponsored drivers, Craig Wilcox (Blue Springs, MO), for capturing the 2006 G-Stock National Championship. We again want to congratulate all of you who, by competing and excelling at National level SCCA Solo competition, demonstrate the capability of Zzyzx Motorsports products. |
